As part of efforts to ensuring that capacities of children are developed, Oluwo of Iwo in Osun state, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, on Monday hosted over 3,000 students across his domain in commemoration of this year’s Children’s Day.
The monarch said his primary concern is to commit resources in the quest of developing them in preparation for tomorrow adding that young Nigerians should be properly guided and protected for a brighter future.
Oba Akanbi made this known during the 3rd edition of his annual children day celebration held at the Bowen University pitch, Iwo.
The monarch pledged his total assistance to ensuring the children are successful in their respective chosen careers.
He tasked the students to device all honourable means to success, saying his ascendancy to the throne was indeed a message to the wise that barriers to greatness can be broken.
He further described his life a lesson for the young ones, noted that porous he only knew he would be a king.
According to him ” I only know I would be a king. The means, I can’t say. Though, I never doubt God. I was nobody but so optimistic with my commitment to the dream to be somebody. I was one of the contestants with lowest connection. God used his power, granted my struggle and crowned me as Oluwo.
“You can as well make an omelette. It is doable. Don’t allow your background to put your back on the ground. Face your studies and be of good conduct. Be know for something positive and be consistent with it, those are tools to greatness not the millions your parents have in their bank account.
Oba Akanbi then prayed fervently for the students drawn from the three local governments of Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa.
Among dignitaries present at the event are: The honourable representing Iwo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Abuja, Hon. Abdulgafar Akintayo Amere (Itesiwaju Osun), Vice Chancellor of Bowen University, Prof. Mathew Ojo, All Chiefs led by the Oosa of Iwo, Chief Yekinni Orobimpe, Princes led by Aremo Adelani Akanbi, Asiwaju Odo of Iwoland, Prof. Tola Alamu, Waziri of Yorubaland, Sheik Yahqub Abdulbaaqi, Mr. Kunle Akintayo, Mr. Oyelayo Kabiru (Sophimac) among others.
One of the major sponsors of the programme, Hon. Abdulgafar Amere, said the initiative of Oluwo is always brilliant and helping to the government, promising to build on some of the ideas of Oluwo if elected as the governor of the state in the September Governorship election.
An APC Guber aspirant from Iwo, Engineer Ayoade Lawal commended Oluwo for his unusual love for children, beseeching the people of the state to give him a chance to rule the state beyond the care of Oba Akanbi.
