Osun 2018: Gboyega Oyetola Declares Guber Interest, Vows To Improve On Aregbesola’s Achievements (Photos)

The Chief of Staff to governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola has formally  declared his interest to succeed governor Rauf Aregbesola.

He promised to build on the legacy of the current administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and improve on the areas yet to be fully actualised, if elected governor in the coming gubernatorial election in the state.

Oyetola made this known while declaring his intention to succeed governor Stuff Aregbesola on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) at a press briefing yesterday  in Osogbo Osun state capital.

Oyetola said all programmes and projects embarked by the present administration wiould be reviewed and built upon.

Oyetola said: “We would  continue with leadership values of the incumbent administration to Unite our people, jettison primordial sentiment and work for their development.

He noted that for the past seven and a half years as Chief of Staff to governor Aregbesola, he has dedicated himself to the public service of Osun people in the faithful implementation of the six integral  action plan of the present administration.

He however declared his commitment to make the welfare of Workers his priority when elected, saying, ‘Welfare of Workers Tops  My Priorities’

“According to him, when elected governor, he would take the welfare of workers in Osun serious adding that his administration will be guided by the experience acquired from the implementation of the bold Six Integral Action Plan of banishing hunger, poverty, unemployment, restore healthy living, promote functional education and enhancement of communal peace and progress.

Oyetola boosted that he has the  experience and pedigree to make it work if elected as the next governor of the state.

He also acknowledged Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his huge investment in education, infrastructure, school feeding,  health and others equitable development in the state saying he his second to none in the country.

The Chief of Staff with acromy ‘Ilerioluwa’ also promised to invest in regular training and retraining of teachers in order to  help students meet standards.

He said “Teachers need more resources and the pay they deserve. If you give me your mandate, innovation, quality, accountability and effective teaching will be my approach. I will strengthen technical vocational education to provide technical skills for our people.

“We will leverage on the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme and then move forward to employ more and provides a more conducive environment in the critical sectors including agriculture, mining tourism education and social services.

He maintained that his administration will partner with private sector and NGO sector to identify and patronize the socioeconomic and other needs of the state.

Debunking the audio of alleged oath taken by some members of Aregbesola’s cabinet to support his aspiration,  Oyetola said as a man of God he would never be a party to such a fetish act but wondered how seeking the commitment and allegiance of people to a course could turn out to be oath taking.

On the agitation for zoning of the post of governor to a particular senatorial district, Oyetola who is not from the district said that zoning was not in the constitution of their party and definitely not part of the convention of the party adding that he is widely loved by the people.

Oyetola who equally debunked the rumour making the round that he has been endorsed by governor Rauf Aregbesola, said if he had been endorsed by governor Aregbesola he would not be bothering himself working assiduously to get the ticket of his party saying that the governor is being fair to all contestants.

According to him, he has the experience and what it takes to rule the state adding that the six integral action plan of the present administration is a template that can be fine-tuned.

The gubernatorial aspirant said inccuring debt to finance capital projects is inevitable to a government that want to work and impact on the people added that he would go borrowing when elected if there is the need for it.
