A member of the House of Representatives, presently representing Iwo Federal Constituency, Honourable Amere Gafar Akintayo has formally declared interest in the governorship position in Osun state.
The governorship aspirant who inaugurated his campaigns with the slogan “Itesuwaju Osun,” explained that he would continue with the projects and policies of the administration of the incumbent governor of the state, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola.
Aspiring to succeed Aregbesola under the ruling All Progressives Congress, Amere said he would cater for civil servants and pensioners in the state through prompt payment of their salaries.
Addressing mammoth crowd that thronged the venue for the campaign flag off on Thursday, the federal lawmaker promised to rejuvenate the economy of the state and develop it for better.
Other areas the aspirant said he would look into include education and agriculture stressing that the welfare of the people would be utmost in his priorities.
Amere asked the people of the state to support him saying he had been able to live up to expectations in the lower chamber by providing boreholes, solar lights and construction of gigantic forty classrooms School buildings in Iwo and Amere community in Olaoluwa local government in addition to Skill Acquisition Centre in Igege.
Joined by his wife, Foluke, Amere further sought the votes of the traditional rulers, party leaders, various professional groups, market women and men who also attended the declaration event at the APC Headquarters in Osogbo.
Speaking, the Chairman of the APC, Prince Adegboyega Famodun described Amere as a true party man who deserved to be considered the party candidate.
