The outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, received a rousing welcome as he made his first public appearance since after the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state. The governor was surrounded by an excited crowd as they hailed him by his popular name ‘Osoko’ as he walked through the streets.
The All Progressives Congress, (APC) candidate in the Ekiti governorship election, Dr Kayode Fayemi, won the governorship election according to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission in majority of the 16 local councils in the state.
APC won in 11 out of the 16 local government areas of the state, polling 197,459 votes, and edging out his closest rival Olusola of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who got 178,121 votes by 19,338 votes.
Meanwhile, Fayose has told the presidency not to rejoice yet, as he will have the last laugh. Fayose asked Buhari to bury his head in shame for using the police, army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and INEC to snatch the mandate given to Olusola and deliver it to Fayemi “whom Ekiti people rejected.”
