I Never Went Into Alliance With Anyone Or Group, I’m Solidly In Support Of Oyetola – Babatunde Taiwo

A governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Osun state for the September 22 election, Babatunde Adedotun Taiwo (Ìgbà Òtun) has described as lies the speculation that he was working against the party and it’s candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

Taiwo said there was no time he went into any monetary alliance with anyone or group against the interest of the party before, during and after the recently held primary of the APC in the state.

He vowed of staunch support for Oyetola asking his supporters and party members to ignore the rumours which he said were calculated to tarnish his reputation.

In a statement he issued on Monday, the ex-governorship hopeful said he did not seek the support of moneybags of godfathers to pursue his ambition of succeeding Governor Rauf Aregbesola as rumoured.

The statement reads “As you are probably aware, I Babatunde Adedotun Taiwo ran a grassroot oriented campaign for the office of Executive Governor of Osun State under All Progressive Congress Party. I did so with lots of conviction and believe. I understand the nature of Nigeria political terrain and I chose to approach the ambition differently and with the fear of God the Most High.

There was no time that I approached any financial institution home or abroad for loan or facility for political purpose, I did not depend on any moneybag or political godfather, I ran my campaign using my hard-earned resources and those of contributors who believed in me as a man of integrity.

As a loyal party man with sound political ideology, I gave into the wish of our political party the All Progressive Congress (APC). Even when I was not fully satisfied, I believe the party is bigger and greater than any individual including my humble self.

As a matter of fact, I, Babatunde Adedotun Taiwo did not at anytime before, during and after the recently concluded APC direct primary in Osun State go into any monetary alliance with anyone or group. My campaign, the Ìgbà Òtun Movement was not at anytime involved in any money-induced alliance or sharing.

I simply towed the line of the party after due consultation with my party leaders, my supporters and those who believe in me.

I am aware of the rumor making rounds, I want my people to be rest assured that I will not destroy the gait of integrity in me by selling my conscience.

I am in support of the candidacy of Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola as the APC flag-bearer and that will not change.

I did not run my campaign on loans from bank(s) and therefore not under any pressure of repayment. I did not collect any form of ‘settlement’ from anyone to truncate the aspiration of Osun West to occupy the seat of Osun State governor.

Finally, I beseech all my supporters and Osun State voters in general to vote for Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola in the forth coming gubernatorial election as a viable option for the betterment of our state.”
