The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yussuff, has said despite his alienation by the leadership of All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Osun State he was not planning to leave the party.
He stated this while addressing journalists in Osogbo shortly after the meeting with his campaign team over the weekend.
Yussuff who said he could however not guarantee victory for the party disclosed that many of those that are being allegedly alienated by the leadership of the party in the state are grassroots politicians, many of whom have made sacrifice for the party.
Yusuff who is one the frontline governorship aspirant jostled for the party ticked in the recent primary election of APC said nothing can pull him out of APC.
The Deputy Speaker said he would do all within his reach to ensure that APC come victorious in the coming gubernatorial election, though cannot guarantee victory for any party.
He said the decision of the people would determine which of the party’s candidate would emerge winner comes September 22, this year.
According to Yusuff, ” I still remain in the party, contrary to the insinuations peddling around that I have left the party and i will do all within my reach to ensure my party emerge victorious in the coming election.
“As a staunch member of the progressives, its incumbent on me to contribute my quotas to the developments of the downtrodden masses and I will not cease fire in assisting the people”.
He noted that, he doesnt have it in mind for a seconds to dump APC, but rather remain steadfast in the party and be waxing strongers.
Speaking on the reason why he didnt congratulate the person that won the primary election of APC, Yussuf said, ” I am not in position to congratulate anybody as non of the party leaders even congratulated me in 2015 when i became the Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, even the government did not.”
“‘ Am using this medium to tell Nigerian that, as a real party man, am still in APC, I know in any context, one person will win, which ever way the party conduct the election, either it was free and fare or rigged but as a party man, party supremacy is sacrosanct and all members of the party must concur.”
” As a party man, I will ensure the party exist, those who are yet to benefit from the party enjoyed the dividends of democracy.
“I want to put it on record that grassroot politicians in our party are marginalised and they must be treated with utmost respect as they are the real party faithful”. He added
He urged all party members to remain committed to the common cause of ensuring victory for the party come September 22 governorship election in the state.
