Nigeria’s king of comedy, Moses Olaiya Adejumo, popularly called Baba Sala is dead.
The veteran musician, theatre artiste and filmmaker who had suffered old age ailments for a long while had been rumoured to have passed on, several times.
One of his sons, Emmanuel Adejumo, aka Boisala announced his demise in the early hours of Monday, October 8, 2018.
It was reliably gathered that the ace comedian, film maker that had competed with the likes of late Chief Hubert Ogunde and Professor Peller died in Ilesa, Osun State, South West Nigeria after a brief age-related illness.
With not less than 30 evergreen records produced by him, he married about 18 wives due to his professional callings to get actors to act with him with about 50 children out of which about 6 of them taking after him.
The late comedian started his art career at a very tender age. This, he explained during his lifetime connected him to the likes of late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, late Chief JMJ Johnson, late Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Azeez Arisekola, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to mention a few of them.
It was to his credit that he mentored many artistes into stardom among entertainment industry like King of World Beat, Otunba Sunday Ishola Adeniyi Adegeye a.k.a. Sunny Ade at a time when technology and modernity has not changed acting from stage play which was alarinjo theater like to video films.
