The Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State chapter has expressed shock to the death of the Oriade Local Government Chapter Chairman of the party, Hon. Matthew Olaosebikan, who died in a motor accident yesterday, Wednesday evening along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
In a terse and sorrow filled message by the state chairman of the party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo and made available to press men, the PDP said it is becoming an embarrassment to the party and people of Osun state that the death of agile, hopeful, promising and creative youths through accidents is unimaginable.
Adagunodo who said the death of Hon. Matthew Olaosebikan Jegede who was said to be urinating by the road side and was knocked down by a drunken reckless driver leaves much to be desired by ‘the untrained lunatics’ that we called drivers on our roads.
Adagunodo said “in advanced countries of the world, human life is the most precious and it is protected jealously and that is why in abroad stringent measures are applied as conditions for issuing driving permits and driver license.”
He therefore advised the government of the day in Nigeria to improve on the methods of training our public and private drivers because in all situations human being should have the right of ways .
Hon Adagunodo appeal that same stringent measures should also be applied before people are issued with drivers license .”
Adagunodo therefore ordered the suspension of all party activities for the next three days and also declared three (3) days of Fasting and Prayer in Osun State to seek the face of God.
the message reads “With heavy heart but with total submission to the will of God Almighty in honour and in prayers for the souls of our departed chieftains that have been variously described as ‘many death too many ‘, in a couple of hours, the State leadership of our great party PDP has declared a 3 day mourning period. This is to honour and offer prayers for our departed colleagues. For the 3 days, formal party activities of all sorts are put on hold.
He however, prayed that God in his infinite mercy will grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
