The Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the release of Leah Sharibu, the last of the Dapchi School girls being held in captivity by Boko Haram.
The church made the demand when its leaders met with Buhari in Abuja on Friday.
His Most Eminence, Prophet Solomon Alao, who led the group to the Presidential Villa, advised Buhari to sustain the war against corruption.
Alao said, “We anticipate that corruption, which is killing Nigeria, may fight back, but you will prevail because the majority of Nigerians are with you.”
The Christian group recalled that Sharibu’s only offence was refusing to renounce her Christian when members of the sect demanded so of her.
Alao also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to guarantee a level playing field for all candidates during the elections.
He also called on the Federal Government to consider the clamour for restructuring of the country.
President Buhari said he was elated that the church had identified with his administration’s efforts in the past four years to bring about a better Nigeria. He added that efforts are on the top gear to ensure the release of Leah Sharibu.
