Minister Of Interior, Aregbesola Sets Security Agenda For New Dispensation

The newly inaugurated interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, has set a three-pronged agenda for his ministry and the government of Nigeria to effectively combat insecurity.
According to the former Osun governor, security, economy and transparency are the new narrative set to drive the security agenda for the country.
In a statement by Mohammed Manga, director of press for the minister, Aregbesola noted that the interior ministry is the first line of action and expected to lead the charge.
The statement said the minister made the assertion while paying familiarization visits to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Aregbesola, who restated the sanctity of governance as the guarantee of security and safety of the entire Nigerian people, expressed his readiness to contribute his own ideas to improve the internal security of the country.
He said he would do this through the collaboration and cooperation of the security agencies in intelligence gathering.
The minister further promised to set up a synergy between the agencies in his ministry, the police and other security bodies in the country in intelligence sharing so as to improve on the security situation in the country.
“As a result of our commitment to a proactive security agenda for the country, we are going to set up an early warning-alarm system in all the geopolitical zones, in other to nib in the bud any security breach before it happens,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the permanent secretary in the ministry, Georgina Ekeoma Ehuriah, noted the achievements of Aregbesola as governor of Osun state.
Ehuriah said with the achievements, she believes that the Aregbesola would make remarkable impacts in the ministry in order to curb insecurity in Nigeria.
