The Federal High court in Abuja has suspended the trial of the claimed driving force of the October 1, 2010 shelling in Abuja, Charles Okah, after it learnt Okah is right now recovering at the National Hospital Abuja where he had a hemorrhoids (piles) surgery. At the continued becoming aware of the trial yesterday February 22nd, the indicting counsel, Alex Izinyon (SAN), requested an intermission of the case taking after Okah's wellbeing status. “The first defendant (Okah) was on February 18 taken to the National Hospital for surgery and as of this morning (Monday) he is still there. I confirmed from the prison officials that he is there. Though he was willing to be brought here for the trial, I did not buy that because I needed to hear from the medical personnel handling him. In the light of this, I ask for a short adjournment. By then we hope that he will be strong enough for the trial to continue.”he said The presiding judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, granted his request and adjourned the case to March 10th and 14th; April 19th, 26th and 27th as well as May 3rd.
