In commemoration of the World Malaria Day, the Heritage Life Support Initiative has conducted a sensitisation on prevention and causes of malaria and free malaria screening for about 113 people at the Àjé International Market, Osun State, AMILOADED reports.
Mrs Ilias Folasade, who sensitised the beneficiaries, urged them to take preventive measures by keeping their environment clean, free of stagnant water and dense bushes.
She further advised the beneficiaries to get tested properly to ascertain the nature of their illness, saying many people have the same symptoms.
The Director of the Heritage Life Support Initiative, Mrs Bukola Ejiade, said the organisation’s decision to celebrate the World Malaria Day was in tandem with their goals as an organisation.
One of the board members of the organisation, Mr Dare Adeoye, described the organisation as a hydra-headed one “as it organises educational, health and social programmes from time to time as its contribution to the society”.
Mrs Akíntúndé, Secretary of the Board, said “we are here to educate, sensitise and also offer diagnostic help to the populace of the community and to administer drugs to people that test positive.”
The programme officer, Mr Mayowa Masanwoola said ” we celebrate programmes concurrently year in, year out. We celebrate World Health Day, World Malaria Day, HIV Day and other days that are inclusive in our agenda as an NGO.”
On their parts, the beneficiaries expressed their joy towards the move of bringing the test to their doorsteps.
