Senator Ali Ndume has said he is not interested in party endorsement but instead interested in votes that will make him Senate president.
The Nation reports that Ndume was speaking about the wave of party endorsement for Senator Ahmad Lawan to be the Senate president in the ninth assembly.
The Borno lawmaker said he was confident of winning on Tuesday, June 11 when the National Assembly meets.
Ndume rcalled that in 2015, Lawan had party endorsement but still lost out in the race. He said: “Well, I’ve said before that I am not looking for endorsement but looking for votes on election day.
“This kind of thing has been there all along, we have seen endorsements against several elections. We are there already and shall become past in question of hours from now.”
on Friday, June 7, attended Sen Lawan’s launch of his 9th Senate presidency’s agenda, declaring their full support for his candidacy.
