Osun Remains the Safest State in Nigeria- IGP

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase has commended the Osun State government and the indigenes for making Osun the safest state in the country.

He said this at the Frontliners, an interactive forum of the Association of Veteran Journalists in Osun State where the Mr Arase was also given an Award of Excellence.

Speaking on behalf of the IGP, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Femi Oyeleye said the achievement was not without the cooperation of the patriotic citizens and varying vigilante groups that have had excellent relationships with the police.

“I have had the privilege of serving in the Force CID where you have the opportunity of knowing what is happening across the states. If you look at the graph- the report of 2012, 2013 and 2014; I have not had that of 2015, Osun State is at the lowest point of the graphs.

“It is the least crime infested states but it is just that we cannot do without pockets of resistance.
The State of Osun is safe, and secure. The State of Osun is peaceful”, he said.
While commending the past cooperation of the people of the state, the Police Commissioner who received the award on behalf of Mr Arase sought for more support in the aspect of volunteering information.
He said people must not nurse fears about their safety, saying the notion of policemen leaking information to the criminals only existed in the past.

He assured the public that the Police Complaints Unit, CRU, and other emergency numbers where anonymity of the complainant is guaranteed, are now available
