Amiloaded has revealed certain key facts about the ruling party’s new acting national chairman, Abiola Ajimobi.
1. Family
Born on 16 December 1949, the former Oyo governor belongs to the political family of the Ajimobi of Ibadan at Oja-Oba. His father, Pa Ajimobi, used to be an honourable member of the House of Assembly in the Old Western Region.
2. Education
Beginning his education at Saint Patricks Primary School, Oke-Padre in Ibadan, Ajimobi has degrees in Business Administration and Finance and Operations Research and Marketing at the State University of New York, in Buffalo and Governors State University, University Park, Illinois respectively.
3. Professional Career
Ajimobi’s professional career spans through practical experiences in Management and Industrial Consulting firm (1977), National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company (1979) and Shell International Oil Company (1987-2003).
4. Political Career
Having served as senator from 2003 to 2007, Ajimobi contested the governorship election under the umbrella of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) the same year but lost.
Poised for victory, he contested the 2011 gubernatorial poll and emerged victorious on the platform of the APC as governor.
He is presently the official acting national chairman of APC.
However, Victor Giadom, the deputy national secretary of the APC, has declared himself as the new acting chairman.
