In commemoration of the 2024 International Day of Elderly People, Hon. Bamidele Salam, representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, in partnership with Benson Adeyemi Foundation, organized a free medical and welfare outreach in Osun.
The program was held on October 1st, 2024, in Ede, Egbedore, and Ejigbo, where beneficiaries also received food items and cash.
Addressing newsmen, Rep Bamidele said the medical and welfare outreach, institutionalized last year, was to commemorate the International Day of Elderly People and also to mark his birthday every October 1st.
While expressing concern that health coverage is not very wide yet in the country, Hon. Bamidele affirmed that the program will address the healthcare challenges facing the people at the grassroots, as there is a huge gap in accessing quality healthcare.
The lawmaker assured his constituents that he would continue to do his best to meet them at the point of their needs.He thanked the Benson Adeyemi Foundation and others who supported the initiative.
Also speaking, a community leader in Ejigbo, Alhaji Salman Hussein, said they are happy about the program, adding that Hon. Bamidele Salam has become a household name in the Federal constituency with his good representation and various life-changing initiatives. He added that over 450 people have benefited from the program in Ejigbo.
In her words, a consultant from Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Modupe Adebayo stated that due to financial constraints, many elderly people lack access to quality healthcare, and the program organized by Rep Bamidele was largely embraced as elderly people trooped out en masse.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Pastor J.O. Omotayo appreciated Hon. Bamidele Salam for the treatment of elderly people and his kind gesture towards the community.
