BREAKING: Customers Stranded As GTBank Shuts Down Offices In Osun

By: Thomas Abidoye

A leading financial institution, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), has shut down its offices in Osun amid an online internet banking service disruption.

A visit by AMILOADED’s correspondent to its headquarters at Ogooluwa area in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Monday at about 2:15 p.m., revealed that the bank remains closed.

Recall that last week, the bank announced an earlier closure of its branches on Friday, October 11, 2024, and scheduled to reopen on Monday, October 14, 2024.

Part of the statement reads:

” Notice of Early Branch Closure Nationwide

“Please be informed that all GTCO branches will close early on Friday, 11th October 2024. We encourage you to use our secure and convenient digital channels during this time for all your banking needs.

“Important Update: Our digital channels will be temporarily unavailable for 11 hours, from 10:00 PM on Sunday, 13th October to 9:00 AM on Monday, 14th October 2024, as part of a scheduled transition process.”

However, the bank did not reopen on Monday as earlier announced, leaving customers stranded both at the bank gates and online services.

In a statement released in the early hours of Monday (today), the bank stated that the transition to a new and robust suite of financial core banking application systems has taken a little longer than planned, while all banking channels, including branches, will now reopen at 12:00 noon Monday (today).

As of the time of filing this report, online banking is inaccessible, and the bank is yet to reopen.
