AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE
Nigerian award-winning artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has opposed the recommendation for voters to return home immediately after casting their ballots in the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election.
Davido shared his views in response to a statement made by Frank Mba, the Deputy Inspector General of Police overseeing election security.
During an interview with Channels Television on Saturday morning, Mba urged Edo residents to fulfill their civic duty by voting and then returning home immediately.
He also announced a restriction on vehicular movement in the state from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day.
Mba stated, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; it’s your civic duty.”
However, Davido, who is aligned with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), expressed disagreement, suggesting that voters should go home after voting.
In a recent development, Davido has addressed questions about his involvement in the Edo governorship election.
On X, Davido shared his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was from Edo State, made him invested in the election’s outcome.
He referenced his previous advocacy during the Osun gubernatorial election won by uncle Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The singer wrote: “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha .. @inecnigeria shame on you I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun ! It’s really bad. God help us.”
Davido had earlier endorsed PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo for the Edo election on Instagram.
