The Omoluabi Progressives, a group headed by former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola, has insisted that they remain members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Osun.

Reacting to the viral report credited to Hon Oladepo, the Publicity Secretary of the group, Abosede Oluwaseun, said the Omoluabi Progressives remain committed to promoting the Omoluabi ethos of Competence, Courage, Character, and Integrity.

The group stated that its member who earlier announced their departure from APC is not authorized to speak or make any declaration on behalf of the group.

According to the statement, “It is not the Omoluabi Progressives or Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola that wants to pull out of the APC. It is the other camp that wants our revered leader and members of our caucus out of the party and have declared us persona non-grata, as well as stated that they do not want us in the party anymore with their actions and inactions.

“Our position is clear on the political situation in Osun State and where the tendency is headed. Therefore, it is not correct to preempt the decision of the caucus.

“Those sensationally jumping the gun with misrepresentation and falsehood are plain mischief makers and should be disregarded.

“Omoluabi Progressives will always directly communicate its positions through its official channels and not through any third party.

“We remain committed to promoting the Omoluabi ethos of Competence, Courage, Character, Integrity, and our core value of Discipline.”

It should be recalled that a core loyalist to Aregbesola and former Egbedore caretaker member, Hon. Adabanija Oladepo, had earlier posted on his verified social media page that the group had pulled out of APC and would soon announce a new party.

He wrote: “Breaking News: Rauf Aregbesola, loyalists finally pull out of APC, to announce new party soon. Details later.”

But in a twist of events after the official release from the spokesperson of the Omoluabi Progressives, Hon. Adabanija Oladepo deleted the post and apologized, noting that it was an error.

He wrote: “The news that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and loyalists are leaving APC was an error and has been deleted. I am sorry.”
