Osun SSG Igbalaye Enrolls 500 Osogbo Indigenes In Health Insurance Scheme As OHIS Boss Advises Other Appointees

The Secretary to the Osun State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, has enrolled no fewer than 500 indigenes of Osogbo, the state capital, into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).

Igbalaye enrolled the beneficiaries through the Imole Bibire Empowerment Training Programme created for community development in Osun State.

Speaking at the event in Osogbo on Tuesday, the SSG expressed gratitude to participants, trainers, and the community for their support throughout the programme.

He also reiterated the commitment of the administration of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to daily impacting the healthy living of the state’s residents.

Igbalaye added that the vision was behind the enrollment of aged individuals into the OHIS.


Igbalaye stressed the importance of continued investment in people’s lives and livelihoods, to build a future where every individual has the opportunity to fulfill their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to the community.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of OHIS, Dr Razaq Akindele, lauded the scheme, emphasising its importance in fostering inclusive growth and sustainable change.

Akindele stated that the initiative underscored the scheme’s commitment to providing qualitative healthcare and improving the well-being of the people of Osun State.

He added that by enrolling elderly individuals, the initiative is ensuring that vulnerable residents receive the care and support needed, for a healthier and more equitable society.

One of the beneficiaries, Ajao Kamorudeen, expressed his gratitude, stating that he was deeply thankful for the opportunity.

Kamorudeen added that an access to quality healthcare had always been a challenge, saying the initiative had given him hope and peace of mind.

The Imole Bibire Empowerment Training Programme celebrated the culmination of weeks of dedication and learning, focusing on equipping individuals with valuable skills, including makeup artistry, gele making, manicure, and pedicure.

In addition to the OHIS enrollment, Igbalaye announced the distribution of over 45 PoS machines, each accompanied by a startup cash of N25,000.

The event was graced by Osun State Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi; the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun; former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and Osun State PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi; among others.
