AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The Osun State National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has passed a vote of confidence on Comrade Adetunji Ajala as the chairman of the council.

The Osun NYCN also urged the public to regard any individual or committee parading themselves around, saying such has no basis in the constitution of the council.

The council made this known at a press briefing in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Thursday.

It accused the Osun State Commissioner of Youth Affairs, Moshood Olagunju, of supporting an illegal and unconstitutional act, stressing Adebisi Emmanuel who is the SSA on Civil Society claiming to be caretaker committee public relations officer has been causing confusion in the youth constituency.

The Osun NYCN noted that the council held its congress on April 6, 2023, at Moremi Hall in Osogbo and was supervised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs with the representatives of Governor Ademola Adeleke and “all due process followed with evidence”.

The council said, “We want to pass a vote of confidence on Com. Adetunji Ajala as the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Osun State and inform the public that any individual or committee parading themselves around should be disregarded as such has no basis in the Constitution of National Youth Council of Nigeria 2018 as amended.

“We wish to inform the general public that the Commissioner of Youth Affairs , Com. Moshood Olagunju role contravenes Article 15 part (VIII) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Constitution 2018 as amended and his action has been causing more division among the youth constituency in the state.

“Equally , the Commissioner has contravenes Article 12 Part III ‘No government or external body outside the youth council has the constitutional powers to dissolve or suspend at level of the youth council ‘ .

“These actions among many others has caused confusion and the commissioner refused to listen to the career officer advise instead, he order the transfer of the youth director to another ministry. This could cause more problem in the youth constituency if necessary action is not taken.

“The public should be aware that some external bodies are coming from other state to Osun state to cause more disunity among the youth on the pretence of the National body . The National President’s name has equally be dragged by these people to mud.
“We, the affiliated organisations will not allow this to continue has legal actions would be taken against those bent on causing confusion in our dear state.

“We equally want to state clearly that Imperial Majesty remained the grand patron for the National Youth Council of Nigeria and the role of Kabiyesi is clear by our constitution and as such, the Commissioner should not drag Kabiyesi to achieve his personal agenda. The Ooni of Ife remains the pride of the Yorubas. We will not allow anyone to drag the respected Kabiyesi to any issue of disrepute.”

Calling for the governor’s intervention, the council said, “It is important to stress that the Constitution of National Youth Council of Nigeria does not recognise any Caretaker Committee at any local government, anyone doing this are been used by element outside the state bent on causing troubles in the state which the commissioner of youth is supporting such illegal and unconstitutional act.

“More so, it is important to stress that one Adebisi Emmanuel who is the SSA on Civil Society claiming to be the kangaroo caretaker committee public relations officer has been the front liner of the person causing confusion in the youth constituency.

“We appeal to Governor Ademola Adeleke to look into the activities of Commissioner of Youth in the state and SSA on civil society for proper redress before things get out of hand.

“We encourage Com. Adetunji Ajala to continue to design programmes that will benefit the youth in the state and more importantly work with all the relevant stakeholders in all the structure of the youth council towards restoring peace to the youth Constituency in Osun State.”
