Osun Ex-commissioner Tackles Aregbesola Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs in Osun state, Prince Adebayo Adeleke has tackled the erstwhile minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, over alleged anti-party activities.

According to the Nation’s report, Aregbesola had been at the loggerheads with Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

The crisis allegedly caused Oyetola his reelection as Osun governor in 2022.

It was also alleged that in 2023, Aregbesola worked against the presidential ambition of his benefactor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by creating a group within the party which allegedly worked for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It would be recalled that the Osun State chapter of the APC expelled or suspended some of Aregbesola’s followers who were appointed to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government.

At the Osun APC Central Senatorial District meeting held at the party secretariat, Osogbo, Adeleke berated Aregbesola for making himself a tool to destabilise the party and ruin the winning chances of APC during the 2022 guber election and 2023 general election.

He stated: “The statement made by our national secretary, Senator Basiru Ajibola was poorly reported. He didn’t say Ogbeni Aregbesola had ceased to be a former governor of the state. What he said was that Ogbeni had by his past anti-party activities and continued combative attitude to the party cut himself away from us, hence it is safe to say he is no longer part of the party. We in APC know Aregbesola is no longer our member.”

Adeleke recalled how Aregbesola mobilised his lieutenants and supporters to work against the party during the presidential, governorship, and other elections, as well as mocked the party for its electoral misfortune at the Supreme Court.

The ex-commissioner advised Aregbesola against his continued brazen anti-party activities and urged him to seek a political truce with his leader and his benefactor, President Bola Tinubu if he is still interested in being accorded the deserved respect within the party.
