The Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) has embarked on a transformative journey with the commencement of a comprehensive four-day induction and capacity-building retreat for its newly inaugurated board members and management staff. Held at the Royal Park Hotel in Iloko-Ijesha, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, the retreat commenced on Monday with a ceremonial opening.

Representing Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Commissioner of Health, Barr. Jola Akintola, underscored the paramount importance of teamwork and collaboration in navigating the challenges encountered by the agency. “We anticipate positive outcomes from this training, equipping our board members to effectively fulfill their roles,” emphasized Akintola. He emphasized the necessity of cooperation with management and administrative staff for optimal efficiency and service delivery within the agency.

Dr. Abdulrasaq Akindele, the Executive Secretary of OSHIA, highlighted the workshop’s significance in advancing the agency’s achievements. He emphasized the strides made in health insurance awareness and enrollment, stressing the importance of extending assistance to millions of uninsured individuals across Osun State. “Our digital transformation has greatly streamlined operations, enabling enrollees to seamlessly manage their health insurance through a user-friendly mobile app,” noted Dr. Akindele.

Commending OSHIA’s progress, Dr. Micheal Oyerinde, Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Primary Healthcare, urged attendees to apply the insights gained during the workshop in their daily responsibilities. “I encourage all participants to leverage this knowledge to enhance the agency’s impact and credibility,” remarked Dr. Oyerinde, highlighting Osun’s potential to serve as a national model for healthcare reform.

The retreat symbolizes OSHIA’s steadfast commitment to elevating service quality and operational efficiency, paving the way for a stronger and more responsive health insurance system for the people of Osun State.
