Appointment of the rector of Osun State College of Technology, OSCOTEC, Esa Oke , Osun State, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Adegoke as the chairman Committee of State Rectors has been described as the right step in the right direction.
A statement released by Mr. Abayomi Ajilore, the Special Assistant to the Rector on Media and Public Relations, many people were not surprised when Dr. Adegoke was named Committee of State Rectors’ chairman due to his impressive academic record.
According to the statement Dr. Adegoke whose appointment letter dated 29th February 2024 was signed by COHEADS Secretary General, Mas’ud Elelu, Dr. Adegoke’s based on the unanimous decision at the COHEADS Executive Committee Meeting held on 30th October 2023, and approved by COHEADS Council at its meeting on 11th December, 2023, was an academic per excellence; a thorough breed with multidisciplinary background; and a professional with multiple competencies.

Born on May 21, 1960 at Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State His ability to blend academic and industry experience has greatly enriched his teaching, research and practice”. The statement further notes.
According to the statement, Dr. Adegoke had his Secondary Education at St Charles Grammar school, Osogbo and later attended the then University of Ife, (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife, where he bagged Bachelor Degree in Urban and Regional Planning in 1986. He attended the Polytechnic Ibadan for a full Professional Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning between 1988 and 1990.
In 1988 and 1989, he sat for and passed parts I and II Final Examinations of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers respectively.
Dr. S.A.O Adegoke later attended the University of Ibadan where he bagged Masters and Doctors of Philosophy degrees in Urban and Regional Planning in2001 and 2016 respectively.
He joined the Estate Management Department of the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke in 1995 as a Lecturer I and rose through the ranks to Chief Lecturer in 2007. He was appointed the acting Rector in 2017 and confirmed a Substantive Rector in 2018. Among his numerous awards are: Fellow, Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers. (September 2005), Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Town Planners.(November 2005), Fellow, International Institute of Education Professionals. (2020), Fellow institute of Policy Management and Leadership. (June 2023), Fellow and Icon of Peace, World Institute of Peace (WIP). September 2023.
Award of Excellence in Leadership in Human Capacity in Nigeria by the African Integrity Magazine in (December 2023).
The new Chairman, Committee of State Rectors, Dr. S.A.O Adegoke has served in various capacities and held several academic and administrative positions successfully. He is happily married and blessed with Children.
