AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ede North, South/Egbedero/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Bamidele Salam, has commenced a three day business and leadership bootcamp for 400 youths in the constituency.

Salam, who is the Chairman of the House of Representatives Public Account Committee, said the bootcamp would help to build human capital in the constituency.

The lawmaker made this known while speaking at the flag-off of the event in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Thursday.

He said: “This programme is meant to develop human capital; to build up people in a manner that will make them live purposeful and impacting life.

“To fire the imagination of youths and to also provide them with opportunities to see the opportunities we are providing them with an opportunity to be aware of the opportunities available.

“So there are many things happening both within the public and the private sector that we need to let our young persons know and be able to key into them. And that is why you see the calibre of persons who have invited here.

“They are people with hands on experience in various businesses, people who have the right information, the right kind of orientation to provide to this young generation.”

Bamidele further stated that the bootcamp would help to bridge the gap between various government agencies that have products and services which he said the constituents can leverage on.

Speaking on the reasons for the sustainability of the initiative for over four years, the lawmaker said there have been many feedback on the programme, adding that “many businesses have sprouted in the constituency as a result of the impacting bootcamp”.

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Tunde Olatunji said Agriculture provides huge revenue to the development of Nigeria.

Olatunji said, “What we are doing is bringing our youths back to the farm and we have to be intentional about it.

“There are farm products that can be exported and will generate high revenue for the country and also reduce the level of unemployment in the country. When there are provisions of incentives or information about it, the young ones will be willing to dive into it.”

The entrepreneurs, on their parts, appreciated Salam for the initiative, saying they have been able to get insights on how they can thrive and grow their businesses.

The bootcamp which is expected to end on Saturday, March 9, had in attendance business consultants, financial experts, and economists, as well as participants from all wards in the constituency.
