Reactions As Police Distribute Water, Biscuits To Protesters In Lagos (Video)

In a surprising event, the operatives of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Lagos State Command were seen distributing biscuits and water to protesters participating in the 2-day hunger and hardship protest declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

The protesters had converged at the Ikeja bridge in the early hours of Tuesday to begin the two-day nationwide protest.

Speaking before the march began at 9:15 am, the Lagos State Chairman, NLC, Mrs Funmi Sessi, said the protest was against the economic hardship faced by workers and Nigerians at large.

The presence of Police personnel, manning every major junction along the three kilometres planned route was sighted, following the Force’s promise to ensure peace and order during the protests.

Surprisingly during the rally, the police were seen distributing biscuits and water to all the protesters in a friendly manner as the protesters jostled to get their share.

Unconfirmed sources within the Police said that the Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Fayoade Adegoke, provided the Biscuits and Water for the protesters as part of the Lagos State Police Command gesture In cushioning the effect of the economic hardship the citizens are facing.

Meanwhile, many Nigerians have commended the kind gesture of the police, saying this is a good step in the right direction.

A Twitter user @EzekwemUche said; “That’s how it’s done in advanced countries. Kudos to them. Don’t mind the Ronus.”

Another user @snillok4u said; “New Nigeria will be sweet; where police will be loved.”
