OSHIA Initiates Comprehensive Training Session For Healthcare Providers In Osogbo

The Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) on 12th of February, 2024 initiated a comprehensive training session for healthcare providers at the NMA House, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.

While addressing the gathering, the Executive Secretary of OSHIA, Dr. Rasak Akindele welcomed participants to the training aimed at fully automating the agency’s systems to reduce paperwork.

According to Akindele, training of medical directors and desk operators on the application to eliminate paperwork, allowing for electronic patient management has commended.

Our goal is to streamline activities and enhanced verification processes, he further stated.


In order to facilitate more comprehensive healthcare provision, he also announced an extension of coverage to cover conditions that had previously been excluded.

A new system that provides easy access to pharmaceuticals was also introduced to manage drug shortages in facilities.

Dr. Akindele stressed the need for more evaluation procedures, such as routine officer visits and patient assessments to track development.

He also announced that after the training, there would be a move away from paper-based procedures.

The software developer and IT lead for OSHIA, Mr. Omotoyosi Stephen Ogundiaro highlighted the training’s focus on equipping facilities and health officers to utilize the app efficiently, enhancing collaboration with the agency and stakeholders.

Dr. Sekinat Bola Oyebamiji, Medical Director of Safe Parturition Osogbo, lauded the initiative, citing its overdue nature and its potential to expedite patient care and payment processes.

She encouraged all registered healthcare providers under OSHIA to leverage the training for improved service delivery.

The training signals OSHIA’s commitment to modernizing healthcare delivery, ensuring accessibility, efficiency, and quality care for residents of Osun State.
