NURTW: Stay Off Our Election, Ajao Begs South West Governors

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

Alhaji Moshood Ajao, a former NURTW Deputy General Secretary has appealed to South West Governors to stay off forthcoming zonal delegates conference of the National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW).

The appeal was made by the former Deputy General Secretary of the Union and Coordinator, South West Elders, Ajao while exchanging views with journalists in Osogbo.

According to Alhaji Ajao, NURTW has a process of electing their leaders and the interference of the Governors may spell doom for the Union.

The Elders Committee Coordinator reminded that in 2019, the National body of NURTW zoned the President’s office to the southwest, and Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa became the Union’s President by arrangement.

The former deputy general secretary went on to say that Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, who had previously expressed interest in becoming president, had received support during the Union’s South West Elders conference, which took place last Monday in Ilorin, Kwara state.

According to Ajao, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo had earlier presented Alhaji Agbede to the elders committee as the next President of NURTW.

Alhaji Ajao frowned at the three states’ Chairmen of NURTW who in a viral video claimed to have endorsed MC Oluomo as the next President of the Union, explaining that the endorsement procedure is alien to NURTW.

He said MC Oluomo had in his former capacity as Chairman, Lagos NURTW dissolved the State Executive of the Union and refused to quit office for Alhaji Mustapha Adio Adekunle in line with the constitution of NURTW.

Alhaji Ajao advised the Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to support the inauguration of a new executive of NURTW since MC Oluomo has quit office as the forthcoming zonal delegates conference will not hold without the inauguration of an executive in Lagos State.
