Health: Osun Government Offers Free Surgical, Medical Care For Pensioners Through OHIS

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has declared open free surgical and medical outreach for pensioners through OHIS in collaboration with Rotary International.

This was made known on Monday, February 19, by the governor, Ademola Adeleke while delivering speech at the event.

According to Adeleke, his administration has been innovating on all fronts, issuing programs and policies to ease the burden on our people.

My administration is working hard to give services and support to lessen the suffering of our people, he continued, characterizing its policies as pro-people and multisectoral for maximum impact on the populace.

Adeleke also disclosed that pensioners have been enrolled in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS), adding that they have begun getting free healthcare services throughout the state

He also acknowledged that health facilities, including staff and equipment, have been increased.

His full speech;

Today affords me another opportunity to interact with my good people in Osun State. We are here to participate in another event designed to address the health needs of our people, especially the senior citizens.

Our government has been innovating on all fronts, issuing programs and policies to ease the burden on our people. We are working hard to provide services and support to alleviate the suffering of our people. Our pro-people activities are multi-sectoral for maximum effect on the citizenry.

In fulfillment of our campaign promises to bring good health services to our people, we have not only stepped up our healthcare facilities in terms of equipment and personnel, but we have also brought on board the opportunity to enjoy free healthcare services.

Recently, we gave the directive to enroll all pensioners in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) free of charge, the first of its kind in this country. I am happy to tell you that the 23,000 pensioners in the state have started receiving free healthcare services throughout the state as of February 1st this year. OHIS has reported to me the smooth takeoff and positive response of these pensioners.

For you to know the seriousness of this government to our electoral promises, today we are taking a further step to provide free SURGERY and MEDICAL CARE to the pensioners. This we are doing in collaboration with Rotary International, hosted here today by the Rotary Club of Osogbo GRA. This is just one of the good gestures for our people’s health.

I use this opportunity to sincerely thank Rotary International for their collaboration with Osun State through OHIS and for this wonderful gesture.

May I also use this opportunity to inform you that the 3rd episode of Imole surgical and medical outreach will kick off very soon? The first and second episodes witnessed surgical and medical care for more than 50 thousand inhabitants of Osun.

We are not only taking care of the end users; we are also trying to make the healthcare providers very happy. Recently, Osun State approved several allowances and upgrades, including the full hazard allowance for health workers in the state.

We know there are still demands, but let me assure you that our government is concerned about your welfare and will do the needful to eliminate “JAPA syndrome” in Osun State.

As we flag off the OHIS/ROTARY-FREE SURGICAL and MEDICAL OUTREACH, I wish our good people in Osun State sound health always.

I concur with the saying that “health is wealth.” I want Osun people to be wealthy, so I want you to be healthy.

I, therefore, hereby declare this free surgical and medical outreach for the pensioners by the Osun State government through OHIS, in collaboration with Rotary International, open.
