Gov Adeleke Commissions Osun Health Insurance Agency (OHIS) New Building

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, in company of his deputy, Prince Kolawole Adewusi, on Thursday, 15th December, formally commissioned the new OSHIA (Osun Health Insurance Agency) building.

The event which took place at the New OSHIA building in Abeere, Osogbo was attended by state legislators, monarchs, special advisers, permanent secretaries, commissioners, labour leaders, pensioners among others.

During the inaugural speech, Dr. Oladimeji Olumuyiwa, the chairman of the Board of Osun Insurance Health Agency, expressed gratitude to the governor and his support, mentioning notable individuals who attended the new building’s commissioning.

While expressing gratitude to Adeleke for finishing the new OSHIA building, Olumuyiwa disclosed that the project had begun years earlier, at the time that Dr. Niyi was the Agency’s executive secretary, but it was now scheduled for commissioning during the term of Dr. Rasak Akindele as executive secretary.

In addition, Olumuyiwa expressed gratitude to Adeleke for making time in her busy schedule to commission the facility, adding that the agency’s Executive Secretary, Directors, and entire staff are ecstatic about the exceptional honor.

Speaking at the commissioning, the agency’s executive secretary, Dr. Rasak Akindele, expressed gratitude to the governor for his efforts in seeing that the facility was completed despite brief setbacks.

Akindele also mentioned that the governor had lately ordered us to enroll all pensioners—roughly 23,000, or 80%—and urged us to take all necessary steps to guarantee the health of the elderly.

He disclosed that the governor has promised to deliver the funds, saying around 25,000 people were enrolled in the OHIS program where we were, of which 4,000 were solely from the unorganized sector, meaning that the rest participants were civil servants.

‘A single person can obtain complete health care for a full year for a very low price of N12,066; a family of six can pay N5,600’.

“We’re working with individuals and groups that share our interests thanks to the governor’s approval, which is inspiring enthusiasm. By the second week of January 2024, the rotary club and Osun State will begin working together to provide health care. With pensioners, we are initiating complimentary surgical procedures,” he continued.

Akindele praised the governor’s efforts but urged affluent individuals, charities, and politicians to enroll people in the OHIS program.

Speaking during the function, Senator Ademola Adeleke revealed that he is making every effort to finish all abandoned and unfinished projects that were left over from the previous government.

Adeleke went on to say that he is dedicated to fulfilling his commitment since political disagreements should never be an excuse for wasting public funds.

Adeleke added, “The health insurance office complex is to create a conducive environment for the administration of health insurance policies for a better health for Osun citizens,” even if she acknowledged that the project is an inherited one.

‘Additionally, our government intends to renovate the state’s 332 local primary health centers as well as a few comprehensive health clinics. We promise a true, in-depth renovation, unlike the individual who oversaw the health initiative during the last administration. Through solar power, we will provide a 24-hour electricity supply in every PHC’, he further stated.

Speaking futher Governor Adeleke said, we are creating an enabling environment to retain our health professionals.

All of our health professionals will get the entire amount of their hazard allowance, as allowed by the federal government. Additionally, new health personnel with the appropriate packages will replace the departing ones. We made enrollment mandatory for all holders of political office in addition to government officials because we want to reduce or even completely abolish out-of-pocket expenses in hospitals.”

Additionally, since there is a very low premium and a huge benefit, I want to urge people in the unorganized sector, such as craftspeople, traders, company owners, etc., to enroll in the program. Until we can get universal coverage, the government will keep helping the people of Osun through OHIS.
