Arise TV presenter and Journalist Oseni Rufai has called out the Executive Governor of Abia State His Excellency Alex Otti to explain how close to one billion naira was spent on food and welfare within three months.
Governor Alex Otti is alleged to have spent more than nine hundred million naira on welfare for the past three months which many consider high and seeking an explanation or debunking of the news.
Alex Otti is the first person to win Governor of Abia State from an opposition party since 1999. Abia State had been a PDP-dominated State until Alex Otti and his party Labour Party through massive support of the majority of Abia people voted out PDP during the Gubernatorial election in March 2023.
Otti is in the same political party as the former Governor of Anambra State Mr Peter Obi and expectations have been high on the need for the Labour Party to show leadership prowess different from the leadership of PDP and APC as the dominant parties before LP became a force to reckon during the 2023 general election.
The news of the alleged food and welfare expenditures of Alex Otti’s led government in Abia State came with big disappointment in the spaces of people singing praises for his infrastructural projects, payment of pension, cleaning of Abia State and many more.
Governor Otti and his government have been called to explain the alleged high-cost budget expenditure in food procurement.
The viral news on the alleged outrageous food procurement cost of Otti’s government is coming after Funso Doherty wrote an open letter to Lagos State Governor His Excellency Babajide Sanwoolu to look into scrutiny of public procurement awards.
