JUST IN: Court Releases Emefiele To 3 SANs

AMILOADED MEDIA HUB NEWS UPDATE

The fear of the possible re-arrest of former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was laid to rest on Wednesday evening as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) released him to three senior advocates of Nigeria in obedience to a court order.

Emefiele was handed over to his lead counsel, Matthew Burkaa, who drove him out of the court premises in a convoy of three Toyota Prado jeeps after Wednesday’s proceedings.

The three senior advocates of Nigeria ordered by the Abuja High Court to take custody of Emefiele and produce him in court anytime the Federal Government seeks to put him on trial for any criminal offence are Matthew Burkaa, Johnson Usman, and Magaji Ibrahim.

His final release followed the signing of documents to that effect by Burkaa, who acted as the lead counsel.

Immediately after the endorsement of necessary documents by the senior lawyer, Emefiele was driven out of the court premises in a luxurious Prado jeep.

A highly elated Emefiele attempted to wave at the crowd but his gesture was met with hostility by the crowd which refused to respond positively to him.

Burkaa told daily Post he has nothing to fear by accepting to produce Emefiele in court, adding that the beleaguered ex-CBN governor had served the country in various capacities before now without any blemish.
