AbramNireti Development Initiative Organizes Mental Health Awareness Campaign, Outreach In Osun

In an effort to contribute positively to community development, AbramNireti Development Initiative, a non-governmental organization recently organized a mental health awareness program reaching out to people of Egbedi community, in Osun State, AMILOADED reports.

The program, spearheaded by Amb. Tomiwa Ayanlade, a dedicated graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University and ECOWAS Youth Ambassador, focused on raising awareness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and promoting overall well-being in the community. The outreach included informative sessions and interactive discussions with members of the community.

In addition to the mental health awareness campaign, AbramNireti Development Initiative also organized a free medical checkup for the residents of Egbedi community. This comprehensive health intervention aimed to address immediate health needs and identify potential long-term health concerns within the community.

As part of their commitment to holistic community support, the initiative identified and assisted 20 widows and elderly members in the Egbedi community. This support came in the form of essential provisions, food items, and financial assistance to help ease their daily lives. The initiative recognizes the vulnerability of these individuals and remains dedicated to offering ongoing support.

However, the success of the outreach was possible through the generosity of well-meaning individuals who contributed both in cash and in kind. Notably, Timilehin Ayanlade, a Ph.D. student from Iowa State University, played a significant role in the sponsorship of the initiative. The Initiative added that his commitment to community well-being and mental health awareness commendable.

Speaking during the outreach, the chief facilitator, Mr Olanrewaju Akinfenwa, expressed gratitude for the collective efforts that made the outreach a reality.

According to Mr Temitope Ayanlade, “With the current economic realities, our goal is to create a community where mental health is prioritized, environmental management is taken into consideration, and individuals feel supported. We are immensely grateful for the support we have received from individuals who share our vision for a healthier and happier community,”

The AbramNireti Development Initiative remains dedicated to its mission of fostering positive change in communities and plans to continue its impactful initiatives in engaging in humanitarian services and to help the less privilege in the society.
