1st Coronation Anniversary: Vulnerable And Elderly Enjoy Free Medical Outreach In Oluponna

In honor of the 1st Coronation Anniversary of his Royal Majesty, Oba Abdul-Rafiu Oyekanmi Mosobaalaje Bamigboye (II), a free medical outreach was launched for natives and residents of the community. 

AMILOADED NEWS AGENCY learnt that the free medical outreach kicked off on November 7 in observance of the first coronation anniversary of the king and 56th Olupona Day.

The medical outreach which took place at the Olupona Town Hall was organised by Olupona Development Association in collaboration with Victory Hospital, Iwo.

It was gathered that the community’s elderly, young, and vulnerable members were the focus of the outreach program, which included free laboratory tests and administration of drugs. 

Among the services provided are routine health screenings (for tuberculosis, HIV, blood pressure, and blood sugar, among others). 

The Otun-Iyalode of Olupona, Mrs. Ajani while speaking with AMILOADED NEWS AGENCY disclosed that the program has been ongoing for years.

According to Mrs. Ajani, many people have benefited from this initiative without having to pay a single penny.

A medical practitioner, Mrs. Idowu Omobola also added that the outreach covers all the necessary tests especially HBP, HIV, Diabetes and tuberculosis. 

She said, “People who are detected are also given drugs.” 

Dr. Olajede Abimbola in a short interview with our correspondent disclosed that the goals of the outreach are to inform people about diabetes, HIV, and hepatitis B, and to cure patients if any of these conditions are identified, she disclosed.

Alice Agbaibi, one of the beneficiaries, stated that she received the information via her house of worship and expressed gratitude to the organizers for this fantastic initiative.

Mr. Asimi Hussaini, another beneficiary, said he received the information from a friend and that he was also given medication and received free testing.
