BREAKING: DSS Releases Ex-EFCC Boss, Bawa

The Department of State Service has freed the former EFCC boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa, after four months (134 days) in custody on Wednesday night.

Bawa was arrested on June 14 by the DSS hours after he was suspended by President Bola Tinubu.

However, the Department of State Services on Thursday, confirmed the release of the ex-Economic and Financial Crimes Commission boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa.

According to report, Bawa, who was arrested and detained by the DSS on June 14, 2023, following an invite over undisclosed reasons, after he visited President Bola Tinubu earlier on the same day was freed on Wednesday night.

The Director, Public Relations and Strategic Communications of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, confirmed the release of Bawa in a statement in a post on the agency’s official X ((Formerly Twitter) account.

“DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago, today, Oct. 25,” he posted on X (Formerly Twitter).
