A 31-year-old Brazilian, Jonathan Ribeiro, has been killed by a fast-moving car while kissing his girlfriend on a sidewalk in Brazil.

Ribeiro and his 26-year-old girlfriend were on Sunday walking their dog in the southern zone of São Paulo when the vehicle ran into them near a gas station, Dail Mail reported on Friday.

On Thursday, the surveillance footage released for the first time showed Ribeiro and his partner being dragged down the sidewalk before the vehicle came to a stop.

The 30-year-old driver whose name has not been released was held down by another individual while trying to flee the scene of the incident.

Ribeiro was rushed to Campo Limpo Municipal Hospital, where he died from his injuries and his girlfriend suffered a fractured shoulder and bruises to her head and legs.

A breathalyzer test carried out by military police agents showed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, but not over the limit.

Drugs were also recovered from the vehicle and when the driver was interviewed about the incident, he told the cops that he had no recollection.

He was arrested and charged to court, however, the judge granted him a provisional release, according to Brazilian news outlet, G1.
