The members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ayedire local government and Ayedire South LCDA in Osun State staged a protest over the alleged imposition of the candidate for the local government chairman post which is about to be appointed.
The protest was held at the house of Chief Mrs Modupeola Adeleke Sanni, on Saturday.
The youths expressed disappointment on one of the contenders, rumoured to be chosen one, who is the son of baba Oyelayo saying he is not a party member.
They said, “He has never attended a ward meeting.
“Political post isn’t for compensation, it is who work well in the party that deserves a post.”
Speaking at the protest, a resident, identified simply as Tobi said Ile Ogbo which is part of Ayedire local government has gotten a political post, “we also want the local government chairman office to come from kuta because kuta has worked enormously in the last election which was victorious.
He added that the protest isn’t to fight but to appeal to Mrs Modupeola Adeleke sanni to interfere in the case.
“Leaders are to worship their followers and not the other way around”
Tolu Ogunbiyi, who is also from Kuta, Ayedire local government said some party leaders are trying to impose people on them.
He said Ile Ogbo has produced a house of assembly member while kuta has nothing to show of.
“We are making our pleas official, we want the party to look into what the masses want and not to destroy what they have worked for,” he said.
Rabiu muyideen Alowonle who is also from Ayedire local government said they are not happy with what is going on “because there should be Equity amongst all the community for benefit.
“We opposed our indigene just to make sure Senator Ademola Adeleke emerges the winner of the election,” he said
Alhaji Lukman Afolabi who addressed the protesters on behalf of the Governor Assured the youth that all their complaint will be reviewed and there will be a positive conclusion by the party.
He said he knows that the people of Ayedire voter against their own indigene for the present governor which “shows how they want the development of the state”
“The party will look into the issue and do the needful as soon as possible,” he added.
