The Osun State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has celebrated the 2023 world youth skills day through her programme tagged, ‘SKILL4HER’, and dedicated to women skill development in the state, AMILOADED reports.

The event was held at the Baptist Girls School in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Speaking at the event, the youth council chairman, Com. Adetunji Ajala, said, “Most times women are left behind in terms of engagement and meaningful empowerment and this lacuna needs to be filled in order to have a sustainable future.”

Ajala said the young women must be open to opportunities that will empower them economically towards a transformed society, adding that skilling the youth which was the centre of 2023 World Youth Skill Day is sacrosanct at this time and such must not be a one-time thing.

The Permanent secretary, Ministry Of Youth And Sports, who was represented by the Deputy Director Of Youth, Mrs. C. Odediji, in her welcome remarks, congratulated the young women present at the training and reiterated Osun State Government’s commitment to partner on skill development for the Youth.

The training which had in attendance young women from different local government areas engaged participants in soft skills, tye and dye, pastries production and antiseptics production.
