Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has pledged to construct and donate a modern Secretariat to the Southwest region of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The building will be named after the late National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Honourable Olasoji Adagunodo.
During the commendation service held in honor of Adagunodo, Makinde revealed his plans to build the secretariat. The event was attended by several prominent figures within the PDP, including Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum, Deputy National Chairman (South) Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, and Acting Chairman of PDP Southwest Alhaji Rahman Owokoniran.
Makinde praised Adagunodo for his commitment and described him as a courageous stabilizer for the party. Despite their disagreements, Makinde acknowledged the support Adagunodo provided during the election of the current Governor of Osun state.
To immortalize his friend and brother, Makinde announced his intention to donate a Southwest regional office to the PDP. He plans to purchase land in a prominent location within Ibadan metropolis, construct the office, and name it after Honourable Olusoji Adagunodo. Makinde aims to complete this project before the one-year anniversary of Adagunodo’s passing.
Other speakers at the event, including Ambassador Umar Damagum, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Alhaji Rahman Owokoniran, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Dayo Ogungbenro, praised Adagunodo for his loyalty and dedication to the party. They emphasized his role in achieving electoral victory and post-electoral unity for the party.
Bishop Ademola Moradeyo, in his sermon, highlighted Adagunodo’s good character and urged attendees to consider their impact and legacy. He encouraged everyone to prioritize serving humanity and putting others before themselves.
The service concluded with songs and bible readings in honor of the late Adagunodo, with his children reading the selected passages.
According to report, Adagunodo served the PDP in various capacities in Osun state, the Southwest zone, and at the national level. He passed away in May 2023 at the age of 62.
