Flood Takes Over Osun Community, Destroys Houses,Shops, Hostels, Farmlands

Many residents in Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, could not make it to their business places, following a heavy downpour which started in  the early hours of Saturday resulting in a great flood and destruction of properties worth millions of Naira

Countless houses, shops, hostels and roads were submerged in the flood.

AMILOADED learnt that in some areas of the community, properties were swept away and roads in the area were blocked leading to a gridlock.

According to report, the affected areas in the town include; Oja-Ale, Atoto, Naira and Kobo junction, Fulani, Mateba, UNIOSUN Road, Campus area and many others.

The flood was reported to have sacked more than 100 residents, shops, hostels, destroyed farmlands and killed livestock among other things.

Some belongings of the victims including buses and other valuables were sighted floating on the water, as residents struggled to save their wards from drowning.

The youths of the town were mobilised to avert extreme damage as many of them were seen scooping water from their houses.

Motorists moving to and from Ibadan were stranded on the expressway as they urged relevant government authorities to rise to the occasion and save lives
