Corruption: World Institute For Peace Calls For Crackdown On Ex- Minister Of Humanitarian Affairs, NALDA Secretary, Others

The World Institute For Peace has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to probe Ex-minister of Humanitarian Affairs, National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) Secretary and others who served under Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari administration over misuse of public funds in office.

This was contained in a release signed by Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi, the Executive Director World Institute for Peace and made available to AMILOADED Correspondent on Friday.

The institute urged Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke to reinstate all the Monarchs that was suspended in the beginning of his administration through executive order.
The release reads; “Uncovering the Rot in the System by Cabals under Former President Muhammadu Buhari.We call on the current administration under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to begin a crack down on some cankerworms, eating away the root of the nation’s economic and financial strength.

“We noted that every day, Nigeria seems to secure it’s place as one of the most corrupt country in the world. From online scams to political misdemeanor. It seems the issue of corruption in Nigeria is not going away soon” however, all hands should be on deck in order to put an hurt to this.

“Last week”, “Emefiele, the Governor of the central bank of Nigeria was arrested on allegations of “financing terrorism, fraudulent activities, and economic crimes of national security dimension. Meanwhile, billions of government’s funds had been lost to many present and past office holders in the system.”

“We implored the new Federal Government administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to begin a crack down to probe through the EFCC and ICPC, the following past office holders.

“Offices like ; the office of the immediate past Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. The minister must answer to how she defrayed billions of naira that entered the ministry during her tenure.

“The office of the Executive Secretary, National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA). He should be able to give account of billions of naira that entered the agency and why he refused to pay the salaries of the members of the board for almost 37 months. Paul Ikonne needs to be questioned for accounts.

“The CBN; most especially, the Director of Finance of the CBN, Dayo Arowosegbe as probing the alleged leaked audio conversation between the Governor and the Director of Finance is very important as well as the fund used to print the new Naira notes. And many others involved as the investigation will be unfolding.

“In furtherance, our organization called on the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke to reinstate the kings in the state, which he quenched their power, leaving them powerless and palace-less as he barricades their palaces with police force.

“We observed that after Gov. Adeleke attained the mantle of power in the state, he went on a spree in exiting the kings that the immediate past Governor of the state, Alh. Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola installed from their palaces.

“We cited the cases of traditional monarchs which are still in courts regarding their right to the thrones and the inter-family kingship tussle before Gov. Adeleke interfered with the step aside order. This action of the Governor can only be described as misplacement of duty. While instead of appealing to the aggrieved parties in the affected communities to allow court processes and beef up security apparatus in the areas and give warning to anyone who may want to forment trouble, the governor displayed the executive power in the manner that his action can only be described as sentiment.

“It is quite unfortunate that even where there is no rancour about installation of king, the governor asked the already installed king not to enter palace, this is indeed a misplacement of priority.

“We learnt that part of the claims by Gov. Jackson Adeleke is that, the former governor installed the kings after July 16th election. But it is very necessary for the governor to learn more about how many months and how many years makes a tenure for a governor and when exactly is a governor who lost reelection for second term in office expected to drop his or her executive power within the confine of Nigeria constitution. We believe Gov. Adeleke did not aware that his own first term tenure as the incubent governor of Osun state will come to an end on the 27th of November 2026. He should simply knows that those kings were installed within the context of the constitional right of the former governor. He should stop playing politics with Yoruba tradition.

“Legally”, “it is not within the ambiance of the executive arm of government, to unstay a king from the throne. “In a true identity, the governor is bias in his conduct. His Royal Majesty, the Timi of Ede, the governor’s hometown, Oba Munirudeen Lawal which just celebrated his fifteen years anniversary, still has a court case like the affected traditional rulers, why did he not suffer the same fate.”

“Likewise, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji still has a court case why wasn’t he ruffled out of his palace ? It’s must have been because the king supported Adeleke during his quest for governance.” which is known to the world.

“Gov. Adeleke is not a student of history,” “when his brother, Isiaka Adeleke became the governor of Osun State in 1991, he didn’t dismiss the kings that were not in his support during his electioneering campaign. So also did Chief Bisi Akande, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola.
