A group, Akin Komolafe Support Group 2023, has described Hon. Richard Akinlabi Komolafe as the best candidate to represent Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in 2023.
Komolafe is contesting for House of Reps seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group made this known in a statement on Tuesday.
It noted that Ijesa South Federal Constituency “needs a candidate who is a round peg in a round hole to represent us in the forthcoming dispensation at the House of Representatives.”
“The Constituency needs a candidate who understands very well the needs and aspirations of the citizens of the Constituency. It needs a person who is sufficiently knowledgeable with broad and deep experience of the Constituency.
“We strongly believe that Hon. Richard Akinlabi Komolafe is the most qualified, fit and proper person, by every standard, to represent us at the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Abuja.
“Dr. Komolafe, a thorough-bred Ijesaman from Oke-Bode in Atakunmosa West Local Government Area of the State of Osun, Nigeria, lives in Ilesha. He has a working knowledge of all the Local Government Areas in the Ijesa South Federal Constituency – Ilesa East and West, and Atakunmosa East and West.”
The Akin Komolafe Support Group 2023 added, “It is the main objective of Hon. Richard Komolafe to use his wealth of experience (academic and political) to advance the overall interest and development of the country, in general, and Ijeshaland, in particular, with Ijesa South Federal Constituency as the focus.
“He has continued to make himself actively relevant in the political affairs of the country. His experience as a former Legislator facilitated the sponsorship of a BILL, entitled, “MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE (LITIGATION) BILL 2020” (HB 919) in the National Assembly on his area of specialization – Medical Law. The BILL was sponsored, on his behalf, by Hon. Oluwole Oke and passed through the First Reading on 7 July 2020.

Barr. Richard Akinlabi Komolafe holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree from the Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) – 1992, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State – 2005, Master of Laws (LL.M) of the Trinity College. Dublin (TCD), Ireland – 2010, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Law of the Trinity College, Dublin (TCD), Ireland – 2016; he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2017.
Dr. Komolafe is a Law Lecturer at Adeleke University. Ede, Osun State.
He had a law firm in a major location in Ilesa.
He is a staunch member of the “Afenifere,” a socio-cultural organization for the Yoruba people of Nigeria.
He is one of the living signatories who signed the Proposal for the creation of Atakunmosa East Local Government in 1996.
He was appointed as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Caretaker Chairman for Ward 7, Oke-Bode , Atakunmosa Local Government, as it then was in 1992.
He was an elected member of the House of Assembly, Osun State, under the platform of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD), representing Atakunmosa East and West Constituencies (1999-2003).
