Osun State has been known as the abode of dreaded political thugs of different calibers since the inception of Democracy in this nation. Hardly would you pass through a street in the state without meeting a cacus of hoodlums boasting around and constituting nuisance in the environment. Most of these touts are highly recommended and influential in the state because they have political godfathers as their backups and also enjoy full support by the government in power just because they are always useful tools for them to remain in power….
As time flies, the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force especially in the state of Osun is gradually appreciating since the set up of the Tactical Team Unit by the intelligent Commissioner of Police of the state, in person of Olawale T. Olokode (PSC) who in no doubt loves to deliver the state from the hoodlums who are not even afraid of boasting on air day and night.
The tactical team headed by CSP Omoyele Adekunle has been doing wonderfully well which the whole world for the first time in Osun State can attest to as witnessed during the just concluded Governorship election in the state.
I wasn’t surprised to read the petition written by Ayo Ologun, as a content creator, who needs to feed his hungry family, and believes that his pen is the key to win the hearts of the out going government, could come up with such petition without thinking twice since all he cares for is a big envelope and recognition.
Every sensible human being knows that the out going government who couldn’t even win the government house polling unit will have to go back to the drawing board, re-strategised and come up with plans.
Oko-ilu, in one of the videos he aired has disclosed that they are ready to kill in order to retain the out going government in power, the dwellers of the ancient town including the king were all living in fear because of the daily killings in the city which has become the norm for the people.
If such a person is arrested, and if some of his colleagues in crime died in their attempt to disarmed the Police who were at the scene of bullets exchange to protect the lives and property of the people and even that of the traditional ruler, why write such a petition against the head of the Police Tactical Team unit who was not even at the scene for doing their job?Do you expect the team to join hands with the hoodlums to fire the king and the people of Ede town?
I wonder what Ologun’s content would be if he is Hon. Kofoworola whose father was burnt alive with property worth millions of naira?
However, the citizens of the state have been wondering why the out-going government is so much interested in the banning of the Police Tactical Team unit in the state and have reached the following conclusion:
1) That Osun State will probably have low record of thugs which in turn means the political godfathers will have no thugs to sponsor for their political ambitions come 2023 since Osun State is no more an APC state
2)That Osun will probably be more peaceful once Omoyele resumes to the office as CSO since he’s not a fan of any Political party
3)They are worried that Omoyele is no nonsense officer and will make it more difficult for them to penetrate in to the state
4) Probably because Omoyele, due to his experiences and exposure gathered over the years as an officer who has been transferred far and near with traceable records is a threat to their secret plans against the incoming-governor-elect
5)May be they don’t want Gov Adeleke to have a successful government, since every sane person knows that to have a successful government good and capable hands must be on deck and Omoyele is one of such capable hands.
These and more are the views of the citizens of Osun.
However, the Nigerian Police Force has done their part to deliver Osun State.
Since the post of CSO is not a political position, it is the decision of the Nigeria Police Force to appoint Omoyele has the CSO, the petitioners has no right to dictate for the Police. The criteria used in selection is only known to the NPF and should remain the duty of the NPF.
The people have voted, their votes have spoken, the out-going government is advised to maintain what is left of it’s dignity by not mingling into the affairs of the government of the people.
