..say he’s the best man for the job
Ahead of the July 16, 2022 governorship election in Osun State, youth under the aegis of Osun Young Professionals Network have declared their support for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The group said it arrived at the decision to support Oyetola after it assessed all candidates contesting in the guber poll and realised the APC, candidate remains the “best man for the job.”
Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Osogbo, the State capital, the Convener of the group, Wale Bakare said they would mobilise their members and resources to ensure victory for Governor Oyetola in the poll.
He said “Upon our assessment of their antecedents and track records, we are convinced that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola remains the best man for the job. He ticks all the boxes of the qualities of the right leader Osun needs at this critical time, and this places him above other candidates. This explains why we are here today to declare our total support for him.
“As a man who had over 30-year experience in the private sector and who served as the Chief of Staff to the immediate past governor for 8 years, Governor Oyetola has brought his experience and knowledge to bear in the discharge of his official responsibilities.
“With the manner at which he has been managing both the human and financial resources of the State, Governor Oyetola has left no one in doubt that he is indeed a financial management guru and a man of integrity. He has not only redefined governance in Osun but has also set the path of sustainable development for the State through the numerous programmes and policies of his administration, which we can all bear testament to.
“Despite the financial limitations of the State, the present administration has continued to ensure prompt payment of salaries and pensions to active and retired workers in the State. He has also introduced a number of policies and programmes to improve the welfare of workers in the State.
“We are proud of the huge investment and strides of the governor in infrastructural development. This shows he understands the importance of infrastructural development to the economic development of Osun. We urge him to continue to upscale developmental projects in nooks and crannies of the State.
“We are not unaware of the efforts of Governor Oyetola to turn around the economic fortunes of the State. We note the Osun Economic and Investment Summit the governor convened in 2019 to showcase the economic potential of the State and attract both local and foreign investments into the State. This particular initiative has yielded fruits with the number of investments that have come into the State. We also note the efforts of the government in providing a conducive environment for entrepreneurship and businesses to thrive in the State.”
Bakare said going by the impressive performance of Governor Oyetola in the last three and half years, he “deserves a second term to continue his good works and consolidate on his achievements in his office.
“It is against this background that we at the Osun Young Professionals Network have decided to throw our weight behind the candidacy of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, and we shall mobilise our resources to ensure that he wins the July 16 contest. We call on youth in Osun to come out en masse on Election Day to vote Governor Oyetola, in the interest of the socio-economic development of our dear State. No citizen of Osun who is genuinely interested in the progress and development of our State will imagine or support the idea of having charlatans rule over us.”
