The custodian of the deity of the popular Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Madam Sinatu Aduke Sanni, popularly known as Iya Orisa, has died at the age of 137.
One of her sons, Solomon Adio, who confirmed her death at her Itoko residence, said she died after a brief illness on Wednesday.
According to Adio, his mother lived in one of the enclaves in the rock for more than 40 years where she served the gods of the rock.
He added that, “Mama would have been 138 years old by August 5.
Olumo Rock, a tourist site, used to be a natural fortress for the Egba ethnic group during inter-tribal warfare in the 19th Century.
It is widely believed that spirits reside in the rock which are being worshipped by traditionalists
