Osun 2022: ZLP Candidate, Adesuyi, Vows To Tackle Education, Economy Challenges

The gubernatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Osun State, Engr. John Olufemi Adesuyi, has promised to take education, security, commerce and industry, social welfare, agriculture, infrastructural development and tourist development as emergency cases if elected as the governor of the state, AMILOADED reports.

Adesuyi said this while presenting his manifesto at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Monday.

He promised to amend the political system in Nigeria especially Osun State which according to him for over two decades has gone the other way round.

Lamenting the breakdown of the education system which he stated by the assessment of WAEC and NECO, the governorship candidate said Osun State, being ranked 23 and 25 respectively, was not a good one as Osun in times past was known as an educational centre.

Adesuyi stated that the present government “does not value education”.

He said, “For a man who served as chief of staff to the past government, who became a governor where the education system has been bastardized has not deemed it fit to do anything to resuscitate the system, has instead shortchanged the welfare of members of staff, the security of the staff of LAUTECH because of money.

“Who can boldly say he has seen the MOU signed by both governments of Oyo and Osun states concerning the University in contention? The MOU was never made public.

“The staff asked to leave the university have not been given approval of device as I speak, let alone their 8 months’ salary being owed. It is a fact that Oyo State Government paid 1 billion Naira to Osun State in January 2022 without a care for the welfare of their staff.

“The security of the state is also an area of concern. In the last four months, Osun has experienced five extra judicial killings and our government has not made a valid statement concerning any of the killings.

“He spoke once only when the Aragbiji of Ìrágbìjí protested because a Prince was killed. Despite the fact that one of the major statutory function of a government is security of its citizens, our government doesn’t see security of life and property as a priority.

“Osogbo and its environment was known for commerce which was the reason for the railway station in Osogbo and the steel rolling. The government of the day does not have innovative thinking to see that industries need to be revived for unemployment to be a forgone issue. If these were functional, about 10, 000 of our youths would be gainful employed directly.

“Ejigbo is an exchange hub to Abidjan but it has never had an effect to osun State economy because the government hasn’t taken its potential for being a means to export goods in order to earn foreign exchange into consideration which would have improved the economy of the state. The government of the day is known for doing what they like and want us to see and accept it as the right thing.”

Adesuyi added, “A reasonable government should know that those that have served this state for 35 years need to be cared for, which is their statutory gratuity. What the state government does instead is to go announce that the state government is paying 550 million 59 the pensioners as though it were a favour. It is wickedness! A show of shame!

“I want the people of Osun to know this is not normal and we are going to stop it.

“Infrastructural development in Osun State today is zero. When Oyetola wanted to come onboard, someone mentioned that Oyetola is richer than Osun State and it was in the news. It’s over 3 years now, Oyetola hasn’t lent osun State a million Naira personally. Of what benefit is his wealth?

“I can assure Osun State that if John Femi Adesuyi- is elected, there will be a massive infrastructural development without the need to borrow from anyone. We have the needed knowledge, we are seeking power now and we will transform the knowledge into wealth for this state.”
