WAVE, Sead Africa Commence Another Skills Training For 250 Osun Youths

The West Africa Vocational Educational (WAVE), in partnership with Sead Africa, has commenced another set of free two weeks entrepreneurship and soft skills training program for youths in Osun State, AMILOADED reports.

The program, which commenced on Tuesday at the Bolanle area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, has been scheduled to train 250 youths on soft skills to make them independent.

Speaking at the event, the Osun State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Yemi Lawal, urged the participants to ensure they utilise the free soft skills acquisition judiciously.

Lawal, whose Ministry partnered with the organisers, further called on the youths to erase the mentality of waiting for the government to provide their need by seeking white collar jobs instead of empowering themselves and take responsibilities.

He further recalled how the Osun State Government gave out loan of about N500,000 to youths in the state, saying majority of the youths failed to use the money judiciously.

Lawal added that the youths later claimed they received nothing, aiding that “many went ahead to lavish the money and they are back to square one.”

In his contribution, the team lead of SEAD AFRICA, Mr Semiu Adabanija, stated that the main focus of their organization in its four years of existence is to impact and train youths on soft skills that can make them independent.

Adabanija said the organisation recently trained youths in Ekiti State, noting that out 52 youths that were trained last year on soft skills, 20 have been working independently.

Speaking, one of the beneficiaries of the training program, Mrs Adewale Florence, said she has acquired a lot from the training.
