Ijo Oje Parapọ̀ Holds tri-monthly Meeting In Osun, Says Association Out To Correct Wrongs In Masquerade Worship

A Yoruba traditional religious group, ‘Ijo Oje Parapọ̀ Welfare Association Nigeria and Overseas, Osun State chapter, had held its trimonthly meeting in Iwo, Osun State on the 18th 9f February 2022 at the city hall, AMILOADED reports.

The group, which is mainly for the worshippers of masquerade, had many of its worshippers bringing their instruments of worship for blessings by chief Adesina Ojebisi and Ifawole Ajani.

The association is registered and certified by the Ministry of Arts and Culture and have a branch Nigeria, Cuba, Gabon, Benin and others.

Prince Adegoke Ayilara, Asiwaju Ijo Oje, while listing the reasons for the creation of the Association, said the association launched was to correct the wrongs in the practice of ‘Eegun’ (masquerade) worship from dressing to conduct and to put a stop to the ridiculing of masquerades by theatre practitioners and other religious sects.

Also speaking at the event, Chief Bamidele Ojebode commended the efforts of leaders in the association for getting approval to celebrate masquerade festival in Osun State.

A masquerade from Inisa, eegun Alenimasun from Iwo, eegun Adegboro and others were showcased at the event.

Omo-oba Adéọlá Ayoola, the president general of Ijó Oje Parapọ̀ and the founder Apesin Ojebisi, members of Ijo Òje in Nigeria and in dispora were present at the event.
