The youth wing of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has endorsed Governor Gboyega Oyetola for another term of office, AMILOADED reports.
The youth wing, which cuts across all the youth leaders in all the local government wards, stated that Oyetola remains the only recognised APC standard bearer.
The APC youths made this known at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital on Monday.
The youths, who were led by the state youth leader-elect, Comrade Goke Akinwemimo, described Governor Oyetola as “the most youth-friendly in the history of Osun State”.
They further stated that the inclusion of youth in governance during Oyetola’s administration was unprecedented.
The state youth leader-elect, in his address, said the only means the youths in Osun State can appreciate the governor’s gesture was to ensure that they give him maximum support for his reelection bid.
Speaking at the event, the Osun State Chairman-elect, Prince Gboyega Famodun, commended the Osun APC youth leader for his assiduous effort to the party, describing him as energetic.
He stated, “Our youth leader is always full of energy and wisdom. This is the first time youth in our party will take initiatives of their own and we’re proud of the youth leader and all of you. This has shown that APC should be more focused on the youths.”
Famodun further commended Oyetola for the inclusion of youths in his government, saying governor has shown that youth people have places in both governance and party.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal, stressed the need for the residents of the state to vote for Oyetola during the next election, saying, “We have all evolved to vote for the leader whom our future is secured with, that is the person of the current Governor Gboyega Oyetola. He has shown readiness to work with youths at all times. In our State over 60% of the sectors have youth in the helms of affairs. This is unprecedented.”
Also speaking, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ismail Omipidan, enjoined the youths to double their effort and ensure that they don’t deviate from the party ideals, adding that they have demonstrated capacity to get involved in government.
He noted that with patience and perseverance everything will go round if they continue to stay faithful to APC.
