There was pandemonium in Osun State on Sunday as the family members of Gboleru Ruling House in Ikirun in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state took to the streets to protest the alleged evading of the Ruling House in the selection of the New Akirun of Ikirun, AMILOADED reports.
Reports had earlier on Saturday emerged that Prince Olalekan Akadiri from the Oba-Ara Ruling House had been chosen as the monarch of the ancient town.
However, the Gboleru Ruling House, led by the Magaji of the Ruling House, Prince Mudashiru Olatunji, stormed the streets on Sunday to protest the selection of the new Akirun of Ikirun from the Oba-Ara Ruling House.
The aggrieved protesters blocked the popular Oja Oba roundabout, a development which led to gridlock for several minutes.
The protesters, who were armed with placards with different inscriptions, called on the Osun State Government to come to their aid in order to avoid what they termed “cheating” in the selection of the new monarch.
